Würzburg

The Würzburg Residence is the main work of southern German baroque architecture and also one of the most important palaces in Europe. As early as 1981, UNESCO included it - as the third building in Germany - in the list of objects belonging to the World Heritage. It was built between 1720 and 1744 according to plans by Balthasar Neumann.

With the Würzburg State Gallery, the Residenz also houses a branch gallery of the Bavarian State Painting Collections dedicated to the great centuries of Venetian painting.
